New Delhi: India reported 28,204 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.45 percent accounted for 41,511 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,11,80,968. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.87 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 15.
The number of active cases has reduced to 3,88,508 accounting for 1.49 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 13,680 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 373 deaths, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,28,682.
Kerala continues to report a surge in infections and fatality. The Northeastern belt sustains a record spike amongst which Assam leads the states followed by Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted an approval of vaccine administration for foreign nationals in India on Monday. The foreign individuals will have to register through the government-operated CoWIN app, using their passport as an identity document for the purpose of registration, a release by the health ministry said.
As per the health bulletin, 51,45,00,268 beneficiaries were immunized in the past 24 hours. So far 54.91 crore citizens have been vaccinated under the national immunization drive.
