New Delhi: India recorded 27,409 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.28 per cent accounted for 82,817 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,17,60,458. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.23 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 4,23,127accounting for 0.99 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 55,755 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.19 per cent recorded 347 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,09,358.
The total active caseload of the worst-hit state Maharashtra stood at 40,422 while the national capital logged 3,416 active cases in total. Around 95 per cent of swab samples examined in the latest round of genome sequencing in Mumbai were found infected with the Omicron variant that triggered the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in late December and which has now ebbed in the metropolis, the city civic body said on Monday.

With the administration of more than 44.68 lakh Doses (44,68,365) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 173.42 cr (1,73,42,62,440) according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
