New Delhi: India reported 27,254 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.54 per cent accounted for 37,687 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,24,47,032. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.26 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 14 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 3,74,269 accounting for 1.13 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 10,652 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 219 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,42,874.
Recording 20,240 confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, Kerala leads the states emerging as the major contributor to the national COVID tally. In view of the resurgence, Goa Govt has mandated five-day quarantine for people arriving from Kerala. Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar. Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand reported zero COVID deaths in the past 24 hours. Whereas Mizoram in the Northeast reports the highest number of daily cases.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage crossed 74 crore landmark, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday. Nearly, 53.38 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. ICMR on Friday tested 12,08,247 infected samples. So far 54.30 crore infected samples have been tested across the nation.
