New Delhi: India reported 26,727 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.86 per cent accounted for 28,246 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,30,43,144. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.76 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 32 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,75,224 accounting for 0.82 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1,796 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 277 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,48,339.
According to MOHFW, Kerala which emerged as a new hotspot accounts for 52 per cent of the cumulative COVID tally of the nation. However, Kerala stands out recording the highest number of cases, followed by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 89 crores, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 64.40 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As per the documentation by the government, 19 per cent of the total population has received the first dose of the vaccine while 24 per cent have been administered both doses.
