New Delhi: India reported 26,041 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.78 per cent accounted for 29,621 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,29,31,972. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.24 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 26 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 2,99,620 accounting for 0.89 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of  3,856 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 276 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,47,194. Kerala’s rising infection count forms a cause of national concern.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, in his radio address “Mann Ki Baat”, warned against leniency during the festive season. “In this festival, we have to remember about one more fight – that is the country’s fight against coronavirus. Team India is making new records every day in this fight,” said PM Modi, referring to the country’s record vaccination on his birthday.

India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 86.01 crores, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 38 .18 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
