Chandigarh: In its first meeting, the Bhagwant Mann led govt on Saturday approved 25,000 govt jobs in state departments, boards and corporations.
“The Punjab cabinet has approved notification of 25,000 job vacancies within one month. As we promised before the election, job opportunities for our Punjab’s youth will be the topmost priority of the AAP government,” Bhagwant Mann said in a tweet. It is learnt that 10,000 jobs will be filled in the Punjab Police dept amongst the other categories.
Unemployment has been one of the major issues that the Aam Aadmi Party had raised during the just-concluded state assembly polls.
Earlier on Saturday, 10 AAP MLAs were taken on board in the Baghwant Mann led cabinet. Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 10 at a simple ceremony at the Guru Nanak Auditorium in Punjab Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh.
