Jaipur: In a brutal incident reported from Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, a 25-year-old woman from Pune was stabbed to death by a man from Maharashtra. The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Mahesh Bhaskar Thackeray, a resident of Nashik. Thackeray knifed the girl to death 5 days ago in Sanganer after following her for weeks. The accused claimed that he got married to the victim identified as Zoya Ashraf Malik in 2020. Thackeray stabbed the woman twice after she came out of a tea shop near the Sitabari bus stand with her friend last Friday.
Police said the woman left Mahesh soon after her marriage. Later, Mahesh filed a missing complaint in Pune. However, the woman later recorded her statement with Pune police saying she did not want to live with Mahesh. The woman then started living with a man named Sahil from West Bengal. Subsequently, the accused started following Zoya even after she changed her mobile number. According to police, only Zoya’s friends Sahil and Kumkum knew where she was staying. Jaipur police said they formed a team to nab Mahesh after the murder came to light. Cops say they are also verifying the claims of Mahesh that Zoya got married to him.
