New Delhi: India reported 24,354 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.86 per cent accounted for 25,455 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,30,68,599. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.70 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 32 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 2,73,889  accounting for 0.81 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1,335 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 234 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,48,573.

Union Health Ministry issued new guidelines with effect from Monday for British passengers arriving in India. As per the new rules, all arrivals will have to quarantine for 10 days irrespective of their vaccination status. Southern states Kerala, Tamil Nadu continue to report a major surge.

India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 89.74 crores, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 69.33 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As per the new vaccine procurement strategy effective from June 2021, more than 88.14crore (88,14,50,515) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than5.28Cr (5,28,28,050) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
