New Delhi: India recorded 2,323 fresh infections in the past 24 hours taking the total infections to 4,31,34,145. The recovery rate at 98.75 per cent accounted for 2,346 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,25,94,801. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.47 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 14,996 accounting for 0.03 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 48 cases in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.22 per cent recorded 25 virus-related fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,24,348.
With the administration of more than 15.32 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 191.12 crores according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March 2022. So far, more than 3.26 Cr (3,26,77,817) adolescents have been administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Underlining the urgent need for an intensive ‘mission mode’ to accentuate the COVID-19 program across the country, the centre on Friday advised all states to plan for a two-month-long ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign 2.0 from June. The health ministry has urged the states and UTs to significantly expedite the process of vaccination in their regions. The health dept also advised that there should be no wastage of vaccines at any cost.
