New Delhi: India reported 22,431 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.95 per cent accounted for 25,602 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,32,00,258. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.57 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 38 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,44,198 accounting for 0.72 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 2,489 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 318 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,49,856.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu continue to record a surge, while Northeastern state Mizoram recorded the highest number of daily cases. A four-member team of NCDC is reportedly studying the COVID graph of the state to seize the surge. Bharat Biotech announces it have concluded its COVID-19 trial in children aged 2 to 18 years and submitted the report to the drug regulator on Wednesday. Bharat Biotech has emerged as the first company to have tested its shots in very young children.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 92.63 crores, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 43.09 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
