New Delhi: India reported 21,563 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98 per cent accounted for 21,563 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,32,93,478. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.75 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 42 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,27,347accounting for 0.67 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 3,624 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 193 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,50,782.
Southern states Kerala and Tamil Nadu continue to record a surge. Kerala records a test positivity rate at 13.05 per cent. Meanwhile, amidst the striking surge Tamil Nadu held its fifth mega inoculation drive on Sunday inoculating 22.52 lakh beneficiaries the state health department reported. Jammu and Kashmir spearhead towards achieving its first vaccination milestone this week inoculating 100 per cent beneficiaries with the first dose of COVID Vaccine.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 95.19 crore, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 46.57 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
