New Delhi: Over 200 former Lok Sabha MPs have received eviction notices to vacate their official bungalows in Lutyens Delhi. Sources from the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said that the process of sending notices is currently underway while over 200 former MPs have received the eviction notices for overstaying.
“They shall be forcefully evicted if they don’t evict”, said an official from the Ministry who wishes to remain unnamed. The notices have been issued under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act which directs the former MPs to vacate their official bungalows within a month of the dissolution of the previous Lok Sabha term.
Smriti Irani Vacates Official Bungalow
Recently, Smriti Irani, the former Union Minister vacated her official bungalow after which she was being trolled on the social media platforms. Rahul Gandhi showed his support and requested people not to use derogatory remarks against her. “Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani”. Later, Kishori Lal Sharma, Congress’ candidate who reclaimed Amethi Lok Sabha seat from Irani said that Rahul Gandhi is right in supporting her as victories and defeat are a part of life.
