Udaipur: Amidst sparking tensions over the alleged beheading of a Hindu tailor in Udaipur, a curfew was imposed in pockets of the city where protests escalated. Internet services have been reportedly suspended and 600 additional military forces have been deployed on an emergency basis in order to maintain law and order.
Absconding accused were detained in Rajsamand, Rajasthan SGP ML Lather said. A state-wide alert has been issued to all SPs and IGs to increase the mobility of forces and to maintain officers on the ground. Several opposition parties have been condemning the incident and calling for strict action.
Ghouse Mohammed and Riyaz, two accused arrested for allegedly beheading a tailor in Kanhaiya Lal shop in Udaipur market. A video of the attack was released by the attackers themselves where the killers gloated on camera and also threatened PM Modi.
Chief Minister took to Twitter and assured stern action against all the criminals and appealed to all the parties to maintain peace in the city. Calling the situation “painful” and “shameful”, the he said an atmosphere of “animosity” has been created. “Strict action will be taken against all the criminals involved in this incident and the police will get to the bottom of it. I appeal to all parties to maintain peace,” Mr Gehlot said.
