Kolkata: State Police on Friday reported the arrest of two suspected drug traffickers linked to international rackets. Drugs worth RS 10 lakh have been seized from their possession in Tangra area, officials claimed.
The arrest executed by Kolkata Special Task Force is said to be based on a tip-off. One among the accused is identified as a resident of Assam while the other reportedly hails from 24 Paraganas’ Bangaon at the India-Bangladesh border. An initial probe revealed possession of over 1kg amphetamine and methaqualone each along with smaller quantities of other drugs from the drug traffickers.
The duo has been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and are in custody for further interrogation.
