New Delhi: India recorded 2,58,089 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 94.27 per cent accounted for 1,51,740 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,52,37,461. The daily positivity rate stood at 19.65 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 16,56,341 accounting for 4.43 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 1,05,964 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.30 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 385 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,86,451.

Omicron variant cases tally rose to 8,209 the Union Health Ministry said today morning. Worst hit state Maharashtra reported the highest count with 1,738 followed by West Bengal that recorded 1,672 cases. States like Delhi, Karnataka and Kerala reported 500 cases roughly.
