New Delhi: India reported 18,987 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.07 per cent accounted for 19,808 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,33,62,709. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.46 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 45 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,06,586 accounting for 0.61 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1,067 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 246 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,51,435.
With the fear of the impending third wave, the centre has launched ‘COVID Mission 100days’ during which all citizens have been warned against dropping their guards and following the norms.
Centre plans outreach to mark 100 Crore Jabs for which a strategy has been chalked out focusing on the Poll-Bound States. Under the mega outreach plan ministers and MLAs have been asked to attend events in pockets across the country and promote vaccination. The milestone will be showcased as an achievement of the centre’s fight against COVID led by Prime Minister Modi. India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 96.82 crore, the Union Health Ministry reported. Nearly, 35.66 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
