New Delhi: India recorded 1,839 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.76 per cent accounted for 5,748 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,44,14,599. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.49 per cent. the health ministry has issued an advisory for states and union territories to follow a risk-assessment based approach to prevent and contain the virus.
The number of active cases stood at 25,178 accounting for 0.06 per cent of the total number of cases. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.18 per cent taking the cumulative death toll to 5,31,692. Most hospitalization has been for the elderly or patients with co-morbidities.
With the administration of 439 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 220.66 crore according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
In the last 24 hours, ICMR tested 73,760 infected samples. So far, 92.77 crore tests have been conducted.
