New Delhi: India reported 16,862 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.07 per cent accounted for 19,391 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,33,82,100. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.43 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 46 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,03,678 accounting for 0.60 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 2,908 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 379 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,51,814.
Addressing the Development Committee meeting, Ms Sitharaman said India has faced the COVID-19 crisis with great resilience and fortitude. Pointing towards the fast economic recovery of the nation, she praised the structural reforms taken by Modi Govt to turn crisis into an opportunity. According to the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook, India is estimated to be the fastest-growing major economy in 2021, projected to grow at 9.5 per cent in 2021 and 8.5 per cent in 2022.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 97.14 crore, the Union Health Ministry reported. Nearly, 30.26 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. Centre gears up to showcase the landmark achievement of one billionth COVID vaccine jab in the coming days. In view of the festive seasons across the country, the centre launched “COVID Mission 100 days’ alerting citizens against breaking the norms. As per the data accumulated by ICMR, nearly 58.88 crore infected samples have been tested cumulatively. In the past 24 hours, 11,80,148 infected samples were tested.
