New Delhi: India recorded 1,675 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, taking the infection tally to 4,31,40,068. The number of active cases stood at 14,841 accounting for 0.03 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 9 in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate at 98.75 per cent accounted for 1,635 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,26,00,737. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.41 per cent. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.22 per cent recorded 31 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,24,490.

Worst hit state of the previous COVID waves Maharashtra has been recording around 200-250 cases. According to state health minister Rajesh Tope, there is no possibility of a fourth COVID wave.

The COVID-19 recovery rate is very good and Maharashtra has seen very good vaccination results. Hence, I feel that in the present situation, there is no possibility of a fourth wave (of the viral infection),” the minister said.

With the administration of more than 13.76 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 192.52 crores according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
