New Delhi: India reported 15,823 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.06 per cent accounted for 22,844 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,33,42,901. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.19 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 44 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,07,653 accounting for 0.61 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 7,247 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 226 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,51,189.
Southern State Tamil Nadu that emerged as a new hotspot reported a drop in its infection count in the past 24 hours. Sikkim lifted the interstate travel restrictions amidst the festive season allowing people to enter the state without an RT-PCR report or vaccination certificate as the state recorded a declining COVID graph.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 96.43 crore, the Union Health Ministry reported. Nearly, 50.63 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As per the data submitted by ICMR, nearly 58.63 crore infected samples have been tested since the outbreak.
