NEW DELHI: India added 1,573 new coronavirus cases, taking the cumulative infection tally to 4.47 crore (4,47,07, 525), the ministry said. The active cases comprising of 0.2 per cent of the total infections rose to 10,981.
The daily positivity rate was pegged at 1.30 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stood at 1.47 per cent.
4,41,65,703 people recuperated since the pandemic. The national recovery rate stood at 98.79 per cent. The death toll has increased to 5,30,841 with four deaths reconciled by Kerala, as per the updated data.
Under the nationwide vaccination drive 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered so far.
The Centre on Monday, reviewed with states and Union territories the preparedness for the pandemic management and the progress of vaccination.
At a meeting chaired by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan,ramping up testing with a higher proportion of RT-PCR, and whole genome sequencing of positive samples was stressed.
He cautioned states and UTs against any complacency and advised them to follow up on the priorities listed in a joint advisory issued by the Department of Health Research and the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
