New Delhi: India recorded 14,623 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.15 per cent accounted for 19,446 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,34,78,247. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.10 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 51 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,78,098 accounting for 0.52 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 5,020 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 197 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,52,651.
Southern state Kerala continues to record striking surge. In the past 24 hours, 7,643 cases were logged. The state also observed 77 deaths, making the highest count so far. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar reported zero COVID attributed deaths over the last 24 hours.
Racing towards registering the billionth jab, country’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 99.12 crore, the Union Health Ministry reported. Nearly, 41.36 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As per the statistics recorded by ICMR, nearly 59.44 crore infected samples have been tested cumulatively. In the past 24 hours 13,23,702 infected samples were tested.
