New Delhi: India reported 14,146 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.10 per cent accounted for 19,788 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,34,19,749. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.29 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 48 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 1,95,846 accounting for 0.57 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 5,786  in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 144 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,52,124.

The National capital recorded  21 new infections while the worst hit state

Maharashtra, recorded a rise of 1,553 fresh cases and 26 fatalities. Amidst the festive season the centre has warned citizens of dropping guards and had launched the ‘COVID Mission 100 days’ to monitor the COVID curve for the coming three months.

An expert committee in the US has recommended a booster dose of Moderna’s anti-Covid vaccine for individuals at-risk , a month after making a similar decision for the Pfizer shot. The booster can be administered six months after the second injection of Moderna’s vaccine.

India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 97.65 crore, the Union Health Ministry reported. Nearly, 41.20 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As per the data accumulated by ICMR, nearly 59.09 crore infected samples have been tested cumulatively. In the past 24 hours 11,00,123  infected samples were tested.
