New Delhi: Around 53 kids have been reportedly infected with Coronavirus as of Saturday morning, health officials said.

Around 14 children have been hospitalized, twelve out of them admitted to Kalawati Saran hospital present comorbidities the officials added.

Citing the spread, the Delhi Directorate of Education issued guidelines for students on Friday, saying closure of schools is the last option. “Closing schools would be the last option. Partial closure would be implemented if required,” said Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The Covid-19 surge in the capital comes amid the Delhi government announcing free precautionary doses in all the government hospitals.

Amid the uptick in Covid-19 cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the citizens not to panic and assured that the government is keeping a close watch on the situation.”We are keeping a close watch on the situation. There’s no major reason to panic right now. We will take all necessary steps according to the situation,” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on 20th April is scheduled to hold a discourse with Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and health minister Satyendar Jain to assed the COVID situation in state.
