New Delhi: India recorded 13,451 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.19 per cent accounted for 14,021 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,35,97,339. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.03 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 23 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,62,661 accounting for 0. 48 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1155 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 585 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,55,653.
The centre hit the state administration, after West Bengal recorded a significant surge post Durga Puja. In the last 24 hours, 806 new cases were added in the state. As the North-eastern state Assam continues to record cases between 300-400, the administration imposed night curfew from 11am -5pm. Worst hit state, Maharashtra logged 1,201 cases a day after the state recorded the lowest infection count. On the contrary, second worst hit state- Kerala added 7,163 new Covid cases and 482 related deaths.
Over 103.53 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 55.89 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours.
