New Delhi: India recorded 12,516 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.26 per cent accounted for 13,155 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,38,14,080. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.07 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 39 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,37,416 accounting for 0.40 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1140 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 501 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,62,690.
Over 110.79 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 53.81 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours. People will need booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine would be required if the COVID-19 virus gets mutated, Dr Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech, said Thursday. “What type of booster would be needed and how do we deliver it on a fast track basis. On that, we are working on various strategies that can be contained. Even if something comes up; we know how to handle situations,” he was quoted as saying by local reporters.
As per ICMR, 11.65 lakh infected samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far 62,10,67,350 samples have been tested.
