India recorded 11,903 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, lowest in 260 days, the Union Health Ministry reported.
The recovery rate at 98.22 per cent accounted for 14,159 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,36,97,740. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.11 per cent, less than 2 per cent since the past 30 days.
The active caseload stands at 1,51,209 accounting for 0.44 per cent of the total number of cases. 2567 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 311 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,59,191.
Over 114 crore vaccine doses have been administered to states and Union Territories so far through Centre’s free of cost channel. The Central ministry is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual summit with the 40 district magistrates of the nation to discuss the reasons for sluggish COVID-19 vaccination coverage. The meeting shall focus on districts where less than 50 per cent of the population has taken first shot of COVID-19 vaccine.
