New Delhi: India recorded 11,850 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.26 per cent accounted for 12,403 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,38,26,48. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.94 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 40 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,36,308 accounting for 0.40 per cent of the total number of cases, lowest in the last 274 days. The active cases reported a decline of 1108 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.35 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 555 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,63,245.
Delhi on Friday breached its record of not registering any COVID-related death for 21 days straight, after two people succumbed to the novel virus. The last COVID death was recorded on 22 October. As per the health bulletin Friday’s deaths have taken the death toll to 25,093. 62 fresh infections and 56 recuperations were recorded in the last 24 hours. Number of active cases stood at 371.
Over 111.40 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 58.42 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours. The World Health Organization said Friday it had “restarted” a process that could grant emergency authorisation for the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19.
As per ICMR, 12.66 lakh infected samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far 62,23,33,939 samples have been tested.
