New Delhi: India recorded 10,302 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.29 per cent accounted for 11,787 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,39,09,708. The daily positivity rate stood at 0. 96 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 47 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,24,868 accounting for 0.36 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1752 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.35 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 267 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,65,349.
Worst hit state Maharashtra reported15 fatalities while, Kerala battling rains recorded 204 mortalities. Neighboring state, Tamil Nadu continued to record a decline in new COVID-19 infections as active cases fell below the 9,000 mark on Friday, pushing the tally to 27,18,750. Out all districts, Chennai and Coimbatore reported a major spike.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, so far 115.79 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country , including 51.59 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours
