New Delhi: India recorded 15,786 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.16 per cent accounted for 18, 641 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,35,14,449. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.19 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 53 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,75,745 accounting for 0.51 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 3086 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 231 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,53,042. India reached its much awaited milestone scripting history administering its one billionth COVIR Shot on Thursday.
PM Narendra Modi, who visited the RML hospital in Delhi to mark the milestone, congratulated the country and called it “the triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians”.
Uttar Pradesh, followed by Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh emerged as major contributors in the milestone achievement. As per the Union Ministry of Health, 61.27 lakh vaccinations were administered in the past 24 hours, that took the cumulative count to 100.59 crore.
