September 27 will mark the first anniversary of the three controversial farm laws getting Presidential assent. With this, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for a strike across India tomorrow urging people and political parties to extend their solidarity with their cause against the three farm laws.

The bandh shall be held from 6 am to 4 pm in the evening during which all private and government offices, educational and other institutions, shops, and commercial establishments shall be closed.

Besides the leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, the new Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi has supported the bandh. The governments of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have declared complete support for this nationwide strike. The announcement was made by Perni Venjataramaiah, Andhra Pradesh Information and Transport minister revealing full support to the Bharat Bandh in solidarity with the farmers.

Sources reveal that Aam Admi Party and Congress will extend support to Bharat Bandh as they demand discussions to be initiated with the protestors. Congress spokesperson, Gourav Vallabh called the band ‘a peaceful strike’ as it demanded minimum support price (MSP) should be given as a legal right to every farmer.
