New Delhi: India recorded 1,67,059 fresh infections in the past 24 hours The recovery rate at 94.60 per cent accounted for 2,54,076 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,92,30,1982. The daily positivity rate stood at 11.69 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 17,43,059 accounting for 4.20 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 88,209in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 1192 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 49,6242. Kerala’s death count backlog has been inflating the daily deaths for the past couple of days.
Worst hit state Maharashtra, on Monday, reported 15,140 fresh coronavirus positive cases. Registering a drop in the infection rate, authorities eased COVID curbs late on Monday night in 11 districts. Reportedly, the 11 districts of the state where over 90 per cent of the eligible people have received the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and 70 per cent have received both doses were granted ease. Meanwhile, the national capital, in contrast, saw only 2,779 fresh cases on Monday, 24 per cent less than the previous day’s daily figure. In the southern region, Kerala on Monday logged 42,154 new infections, raising the state’s caseload to 60,25,669. The state has been reeling under COVID threat as the daily tally touched 50,000.
The health bulletin documented 166.68 crore cumulative vaccinations under the nationwide vaccination drive, including 61.45 lakh administrations in the past 24 hours.
