New Delhi: India recorded 1,17,100 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.57 per cent accounted for 30,836 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,43,71,845. The daily positivity rate stood at 7.74 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 3,71,363 accounting for 1.05 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 71,397 in the last 24 hours. The health ministry has cited concern on the drastic rise of 28% after a period of seven months. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.37 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 302 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,83,178.

With a single-day jump of 377 Omicron, India now has 3,007 cases of the new variant of coronavirus. Omicron has been reported in 27 states, with the most cases in Maharashtra with 876 cases, followed by Delhi with 465 infections. The health ministry recorded second death attributed to the Omicron Infection in Orissa on Thursday.

As per the statistics reported to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 149.66 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country including 94.47 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
