Preparations for Yoga Day 2025 are intensifying across the country as India gears up to celebrate the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21. This year, a virtual workshop was organised recently by the Ministry of Ayush along with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with a view to streamlining the efforts. More than 400 officials pertaining to different ministries and departments were present in the session to reinforce the inter-agency coordination and to make maximum impact on the people.
This year’s International Yoga Day holds special significance as it marks a decade since the United Nations officially recognised yoga as a global practice in 2014 through a unanimous resolution. The first Yoga Day was observed on June 21, 2015, and since then, it has evolved into a global celebration promoting wellness and mindfulness.
The theme for Yoga Day 2025, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” reflects India’s vision of holistic well-being and sustainable living. Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha (Chairman of the workshop), also stressed the need to have a whole-of-government approach in order to make it big. He claimed that the International Day of Yoga has become a national movement that not only pays tribute to physical fitness but also to spiritual and emotional balance.
On Kurukshetra, the Yoga Committee of Patanjali held a special preparatory meeting of the Women’s Wing for this evaluation and preparation. This session was chaired by Sadhvi Devpriya, the National Incharge of the Committee, which highlighted the transformative power of yoga toward health, morality, and devotion. Devpriya urged for mass participation in the International Yoga Day event at Brahma Sarovar, calling it more than a celebration—it’s a revolution for wellness.
Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam, the national host city for Yoga Day 2025, witnessed a high-level review and field inspection by officials from the Ministry of Ayush and the Andhra Pradesh government to finalise the arrangements.
