Today is the third death anniversary of singer Sidhu Moosewala, whose official name was Shubhdeep Singh. Three years after his passing, people honour his legacy by playing his music at parties, marches and when they remember him. Because he was recognised far and wide, he became one of the most famous Punjabi singers in modern times.

On the night of May 29, 2022, a group of unidentified attackers ambushed Moosewala and opened fire on him. Even with multiple gunshot wounds, he was taken right to the hospital, though before doctors could save him, he had already passed away. What happened during the incident caused the nation to feel sorrowful, and fans to feel anguished.

Many musicians, actors and artists were seen at his funeral alongside others. Indians from all over the country, as well as foreigners, came together to commemorate her. He was mourned during funeral rites on his farm, after which a memorial was raised to hold his memory. People remember Balkaur Singh taking off his turban and bowing his head before the mourners, which showed his grief and gratitude.

On the day before his son’s anniversary, Balkaur Singh said, “Reality can seem unreal, whereas lies sometimes seem to make sense to me. Even when I say it’s a dream, I don’t understand how a dream could go on that long.”
