New Delhi: For the first time after the BJP government came to power in Delhi after 11 years, International Yoga Day will be officially celebrated on 21 June. Ashish Sood, a minister in the Delhi government, says that the BJP government has been formed in Delhi after 27 years, which is working in coordination with the central government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, so Yoga Day will be officially celebrated after 11 years. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal’s government had not organized an official event.

Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood said that the government will organize Yoga Day at around 11 places in Delhi, in which more than 30,000 people will participate under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Let us tell you that earlier the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in power in Delhi had started yoga classes in which people were taught yoga. At that time, the Lieutenant Governor was accused of shutting it down.

Why is International Yoga Day celebrated on 21st June only?

Let us tell you, 21st June is the longest day of the year, which is called summer solstice. From the perspective of yoga, this day is considered very powerful spiritually, that is why it has been decided to spread the message of doing yoga all over the world on this day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed International Yoga Day in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, which received the support of 177 out of 193 countries and since 2015 this day has been officially celebrated.
