The whole country is immersed in the saffron colour of Hanuman Jayanti. Temples are all set to celebrate the occasion. In North India, Hanuman Jayanti is observed during Chaitra Purnima, but in south India, especially in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it is celebrated for 41 days, starting from Chaitra Purnima and concluding on the tenth day during Krishna Paksha in Vaishakha month.

This festival is known as Hanumatha Jayanti in Tamil Nadu and is celebrated during Margashirsha Amavasya. According to Tamilians, Hanuman Jayanti falls in the month of December or January in the Gregorian calendar. In Karnataka, it is celebrated on the Shukla Paksha Trayodashi of the month of Margashirsha. This propitious day is known as Hanuman Vratam.

Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) of Chaitra month. It is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. The monkey god is a wholehearted follower of Lord Shri Ram and Sita Mata. On this day, spiritual discourses are organized in the temples at Brahmamuhurta, and these events conclude with sunrise. Conducting the Sundar Kand paath on this day is considered meritorious.

People belonging to sports, wrestling, and martial arts consider Bajrang Bali their guru and offer special prayers to Hanuman ji to seek blessings. Bhandara will be organized to feed needy and poor people. On this day, Hanuman ji is adorned with flowers,new clothes, silver vark, and jewellery.
