Bhopal: In a survey recently revealed by the Municipal Corporation, it was found that 21 percent of the flats built in the city under Housing for All (HFA), tenants are living instead of the house owners. The corporation staff recently surveyed 3054 flats given to the slum dwellers and non-slum category in 5 projects of the city, Bhanpur, Kokta, Hinotia Alam, Malikhedi and Rahul Nagar. Out of these, 639 i.e. 21 percent flats were found to have tenants.

Out of 1293 flats given to slum dwellers in 5 projects, 267 have tenants, the report further revealed. Whereas, 1761 flats were given to people who themselves lived on rent. Out of these, 372 have given their flats on rent. There are 18 projects in the city under PM Awas and JNNURM as well as the HFA scheme. There are 15 thousand flats in these. The corporation has surveyed five projects. The remaining 13 projects are yet to be surveyed.

After the report was submitted, the corporation issued notices to all these flat owners. Actually, the flats given under Housing For All are given at concessional rates to people living in slums or on rent. But the condition is that these cannot be given on rent. If this happens, the allotment can be canceled.
