Mumbai, Maharashtra: After ruling the Hindi film industry for decades, Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar is all set to make his debut in the Marathi film industry. As per reports, Akshay Kumar will play the role of Shivaji in his Marathi debut. The movie is titled Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat and it is to be directed by another movie maestro Mahesh Manjrekar and will be produced by Vaseem Qureshi. The film is based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his dream of making Swarajya a reality.
Akshay is very delighted to play the role in his Marathi debut. Speaking about the same at an event, he said, “It’s a dream come true role for me. I think to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen is a very huge responsibility. I was taken aback when Raj sir asked me to portray this role. I feel so good to be playing this part and it’s going to be a dream come true role for me. Also, I will be working for the first time with director Mahesh Manjrekar, and it is going to be an experience.”
The mahurat shot event for the movie was held on Tuesday in Mumbai where Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was present along with MNS chief Raj Thackeray. The first look of Akshay Kumar from the movie has also gone viral on social media platforms where Akshay looks appealing as Shivaraj Maharaj. Apart from this, Akshay has some important Bollywood projects lined up that include OMG 2, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Capsule Gill, and Jolly LLB 3 among others. His last release Ram Setu on the eve of Diwali also saw a good response at the box office.
