The next horror-comedy The Raja Saab starring Prabhas in the role of the main character will be released in theatres on January 9, which is during the Sankranthi festival. After making the required adjustments to the recommendations provided by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the film has been given its censor certification by the board a few days before its theatrical release.
Based on the certification information, The Raja Saab has received a UA 16+ rating and a total running time of 189 minutes (3 hours and 9 minutes). The December 24, 2025, list of cuts and changes issued by the CBFC necessitated some modifications in the scenes which had violent or bloody content. The sequence where blood was washed on the floor was one of such sequences, which were altered by turning the 35-second scene into a monochrome, thus making less visual impressions. Also, small flash images of a beheading were the subject of the flagging by the board, so the four-second shot was entirely taken away by the makers.
Besides the visual edits, the CBFC also directed the changes in the form of the audio description (AD) and closed captioning (CC), which were appropriately followed by the filmmakers to address the certification requirements. The film got its cinematic release with such changes.
The Raja Saab now goes into a very competitive festive box-office window. Sankranthi season is a busy season with several big-ticket movies both in Telugu and Tamil cinema. The film will be competing directly with the last film of Vijay, Jana Nayagan, which is also being released in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu, on January 9. To make the conflict even more, the arrival of Sivakarthikeyan in the Telugu-speaking areas is planned to happen on January 10.
Next in the festive list is Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu by Chiranjeevi which will be released on January 12. In the meantime, Naveen Polishetty long delayed Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Sharwanand Anaganaga Oka Raju are expected to hit the theatres on January 14.
