Mumbai: The Kerala Story has taken the box office by storm, surpassing expectations and outperforming many star-driven titles that have hit screens in 2023. Directed by Sudipto Sen, this controversial film has crossed the Rs 50 crores mark in just five days, with its Tuesday collections almost matching its opening Saturday figures.
With early estimates suggesting a Rs 11 cr haul on its fifth day, The Kerala Story’s total collection now stands at an impressive Rs 56.72 cr. Led by Adah Sharma, this gripping tale has captured audiences’ imaginations, with its collections on day five actually higher than those on day four. The movie has crossed Selfiee and Shehzada Box Office collections combined in just 5 days.
The controversies going around the movie has helped it a lot to attract people at the ticket counters. The UP Government announced on Tuesday that the tickets for The Kerala Story will be tax-free and on the other hand, the West Bengal Government has imposed a ban on it.
The Kerala Story is still in the race competing against Kashmir Files, a similar controversial film directed by Vivek Agnihotri. Kashmir Files was released in the year 2022 and it earned 18 crores on the first Tuesday.
