Vivek Agnihotri’s incident-based film- The Kashmir Files joined the 100 crore club screening for a week. On the eighth day, the movie is now seen racing towards the 150 crore mark, being a tough competition to Akshay Kumar and Kirti Sanon starrer Bachchan Pandey.
The film is creating mayhem across multiplexes and the net revenue is just expected to hike through the weekend. The film minted Rs 19.15 crore, on Holi, 18th March taking the total box office to Rs 116.45 crore.
The Kashmir files based on the Hindu Pandit exodus in 1990 during the Kashmir insurgency has gained huge mileage politically. Oppositions slam the makers for depicting ‘half truth’. The film revolved around the story of the victims narrated by their first generation. It is a heart-wrenching narrative of pain, struggles and trauma faced by Kashmiri Pandits.
The Kashmir Files’ cast features Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others. The film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners.
