Mumbai: John Abraham’s political thriller The Diplomat has maintained a steady run at the box office despite facing tough competition from Chhaava, the Vicky Kaushal-led historical epic.

After a decent opening, this real-life story of Indian diplomat JP Singh and Uzma Ahmed garnered positive reviews. The strong word-of-mouth has further helped it maintain a steady flow of audiences in cinemas.

According to sources, The Diplomat began its box office journey on Friday (Holi holiday) with a collection of Rs 4 crore. The film was expected to see an increase in earnings on Saturday, and while there was growth, it wasn’t a massive jump. On Saturday, it saw a 16.25 percent increase, collecting Rs 4.65 crore. Sunday’s collection remained consistent at Rs 4.65 crore, bringing the film’s total domestic earnings to Rs 13.30 crore. The Diplomat recorded an overall 19.61 percent Hindi occupancy on Sunday.

Chhaava Box Office Collection Day 31: It’s been over a month since Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama Chhaava started its run at the box office. Even in its fifth week, the film is standing strong at the box office, breaking several records. Chhaava has already become Vicky Kaushal’s highest grosser, and recently, it also overtook Ranbir Kapoor-starter Animal’s lifetime collection, becoming Rashmika’s second-highest grosser after Pushpa 2. Earlier, it crossed Pathaan’s lifetime earning. On its fifth Sunday, Chhaava managed to collect Rs 8 crores. The Hindi version earned Rs 7.25 crores, while the Telugu version raked in another Rs 75 lakhs.
