The romantic comedy with a sci-fi twist, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, witnessed a robust turnout in cinemas during its debut weekend. The film started strong with a Friday collection of Rs 6.7 crore, followed by Rs 9.65 crore on Saturday and a double-digit figure on Sunday, amassing Rs 10.75 crore. However, the film faced a significant downturn on Monday, experiencing a nearly 65% drop in earnings.
On its first Monday, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” earned Rs 3.75 crore, bringing its total domestic box office collection to Rs 30.85 crore after four days. The film maintained an overall 11.06% Hindi occupancy, with the majority of the audience attending night shows. While a decline in weekday box office numbers is anticipated, the film’s sustainability over the weekends will be crucial for its overall performance in the coming days.
The production company reported that the film achieved Shahid Kapoor’s highest overseas weekend collection, surpassing the success of his previous hit, “Kabir Singh,” with earnings of 2.4 million dollars. Although “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” has already exceeded the lifetime collections of Kapoor and Sanon’s previous films, “Jersey” (Rs 19.68 cr) and “Ganapath” (Rs 9.70 cr), the film was anticipated to have a more substantial impact at the box office, especially considering Kapoor’s return to the romantic genre.
Directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, the film portrays Shahid Kapoor as a scientist who falls in love with Kriti Sanon’s character, SIFRA, a robot. Despite mixed reviews from both audiences and critics, the film managed to garner attention. One reviewer highlighted certain aspects, stating, “For a film aspiring to be a family entertainer, it features risible sequences and tasteless jokes. The film has received criticism for perpetuating outdated tropes.”
