Mumbai: Sunny Deol is not done with Jaat. Sunny Deol will reprise his role as Baldev Pratap Singh in Jaat 2, with director Gopichand Malineni also returning to helm the sequel. Jaat is Sunny Deol’s third biggest film of his career, followed by Gadar and Gadar 2.

The actor announced a sequel to the action entertainer – Jaat 2 – a week after part 1 hit the theatres. Interestingly, Jaat has not set the cash registers ringing since its release. Yet, the makers have greenlit a sequel, implying they are confident about the film recovering its investment.

The Gopichand Malineni directorial registered a decent hold on its first Wednesday, and collected around Rs 4 crore nett, reported the trade analysts. The film is right next to the blockbuster ‘Gadar’ film series on Deol’s resume.

After seven days of its release, ‘Jaat’ stands at around Rs 57.50 crore nett. The film is expected to wrap up its extended eight-day week at around Rs 60 crore nett, which is a good total for any mid-budget film.

‘Jaat’ has got one more day to perform smoothly at the box office. It will have to face tough competition from ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, which hits the screens tomorrow amid good anticipation. The Akshay Kumar film is expected to attract a decent number of audiences to theatres in the initial days. However, if it fails to receive good word-of-mouth from the audience, ‘Jaat’ will come back to the fore once again, to take over the screens and enjoy an undisputed run.

It will be interesting to see how ‘Kesari 2’ affects the run of ‘Jaat’ in the coming days. The film also features Randeep Hooda and Viineet Kumar Siingh in important roles. It is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
