After Stree, the movie Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao is setting record at the box office. Launched on the 4th of July, it had a big battle with two other hit films – Khel Khel Mein with Akshay Kumar and Vedaa with John Abraham. Nevertheless, in confrontation with these films of large investments, ‘Stree 2’ was released and it was a big hit, achieving a hefty sum at the box office.
Going by the initial reports, Stree 2 has grossed a whopping Rs 135.7 crore on the third day of its release in theatres. The weekend collections for the film showed a steep rise from Saturday to Sunday, which indicated that it was getting more and more people’s favourite. According to industry insiders, the film grossed about Rs 44 crore on Saturday, an advance of about Rs 31. 4 crore it collected on Friday from Rs 18 crore on Thursday and Rs 13. 75 crore on Wednesday. This simply means that Stree 2 could gross even more on Sunday and this would be further boosted by Raksha Bandhan holiday on Monday.
Reports also indicate that Stree 2 had an overall 61.96% occupancy was observed during night shows. The night shows registered an 81 percent occupancy across India especially in the Metros namely Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Bangalore, markets where the movie has been rocking.
Though the makers of Stree 2 have not explicitly announced it yet, one of its lead actors, Rajkummar Rao, expressed joy at the film’s success. He went online, particularly on Instagram, to announce to his fans that the film had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. “Godbless you and all. To add to the sentiment of the message – thank you all,” Rao said as he thanked the audience members for their support.
Stree 2 has already opened well at the domestic box office and is expected to enjoy good patronage and positive word of mouth, which ensures its position in the list of top movies.
