The most awaited horror-comedy, Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is set to dominate the theaters and certainly experience a great call on Independence Day on 15th August 2024. There is an early indication from bookings that the movie will have a decent opening, beating other big Bollywood movies that are also released on the same day.
As per the contemporary reports of the film industry, it has been reported that advance sales for Stree 2 have been relatively very high, with ₹11.37 crore gross in India. It had 381,878 tickets pre-sales for its first day, showing that there were indeed a lot of expectations for the film. This early achievement put Stree 2 in a prime location to challenge the week’s champion once released.
However, other big films released on the same day, like Khel Khel Mein, Akshay Kumar Starter, and Vedaa John Abraham Starter, have not indicated such a promising booking as the second part of the horror comedy Stree 2. The hard ticket holder product sale of Khel Khel Mein stands at 15,001 tickets, with the show accruing ₹55.33 lakh gross so far, while Vedaa has reported a similar advance sales figure with ₹56.57 lakh gross and 23335 tickets sold.
Other films to be released on Independence Day are Thangalaan, featuring Vikram and directed by Pa Ranjith and Puri Jagannadh’s Telugu flick ‘Double iSmart’ with Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt in the lead. Meanwhile, the political drama Raghu Thatha with Keerthy Suresh and Mr Bachchan featuring Ravi Teja will also be released on August 15.
Stree 2 is a direct continuation of the successful Stree, released in 2018. The film’s bookings have passed a signal that it is endowed with the monopoly of the box office despite the competition with other films. As Raksha Bandhan was on August 19, the film has a possibility of a long weekend run, bolstering them as audience favourites.
