Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, released on August 1, and as it was highly expected, it clashed with Dhadak 2 at the box office to take a face-off. Son of Sardaar 2 started with a huge momentum and since its very first day has shown great occupancy rates. By the seventh day, action-comedy had collected a sum of 1.40 Crore with a total of 8.64 per cent occupancy of Hindi movies on 7 August.

Comparatively, Dhadak 2, a romantic drama based on the issue of caste prejudice against Dhadak 2, collected approximately 1 crore on the 7th day, with Hindi-speaking visitors accounting for 12 per cent of the visitors. But in the case of cumulative collections, the difference is great. After the first week, the Son of Sardaar 2 had earned around 32.89 crores of rupees, whereas the Dhadak 2 earned approximately 16.44 crores of rupees in the same duration.

Along with its stronghold over Dhadak 2, Son of Sardaar 2 is experiencing heavy competition with Saiyaara starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Saiyaara remains in a tremendous climb with overflying and defying for 3 weeks. The movie still continues to be a blockbuster at the theatres despite new offerings, and on day 21 alone, it collected 1.85 crore.

The Son of Sardaar 2 has Ajay Devgn as the main actor along with Mrunal Thakur, Mukul Dev, Ravi Kishan and Kubbra Sait. It is the action-packed sequel of the 2012 box office success, following Jassi (Devgn), who goes to Scotland to meet his lost wife, only to get lost in a tornado of mafia wars, kidnapping and some crazy Sikh marriage, which is, of course, hilarious.

Dhadak 2 is based on the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal; Dhadak 2 focuses on the character of Neelesh Ahirwar (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a Dalit law student, and Vidhi Bharadwaj (Triptii Dimri), who belongs to a wealthy family. The movie also talks about their relationship when it gets in the way of the severe realities of cast system prejudices and structural misery in contemporary India.
