Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan’s latest film, Shaitaan, is proving to be a box office winner. The Vikas Bahl-directed horror thriller opened strong, exceeding double digits at the ticket counters. But it didn’t stop there. On its first Saturday, Shaitaan witnessed a surge in earnings, minting an impressive ₹18.75 crore according to industry tracker. This brings the film’s total collection to a solid ₹33.5 crore in just two days.
Shaitaan’s success isn’t limited to just its earnings. Audience interest seems to be growing with each passing day. The Hindi occupancy rate jumped from 25.70% on day 1 to 33.65% on day 2, indicating a positive word-of-mouth buzz.
The horror-thriller, co-produced by Devgn himself alongside Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak, is the Hindi remake of the Gujarati film Vash, which released last year. Whether Shaitaan can maintain its momentum and achieve cult status like the original remains to be seen, but its initial box office performance is undeniably positive.
Shaitaan’s special screening held on March 7 witnessed the arrival of the cast members and their families. Jyothika’s husband and actor Suriya gave a shoutout to his wife by posing in front of the film poster, featuring Jyothika displaying a thumbs-up gesture. Sharing the picture on Instagram, Suriya wrote, “To my woman! My partner, my strength! It’s a new beginning again with Shaitaan! Proud of everything you do! Lots of respect and love!”
