Mumbai: Ajay Devgn’s supernatural thriller Shaitaan, released in 2024, was a box office success. Now, the much-awaited sequel, Shaitaan 2, is in the development stage with new actors joining the original star cast of Devgn, R Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala. What’s more, the official announcement of Shaitaan 2 is expected to coincide with Kajol’s upcoming release, Maa.
The sequel promises to delve deeper into the eerie world of black magic, which made the original such a hit. While Shaitaan revolved around a family trying to rescue their daughter from the clutches of a sinister man named Vanraj, the sequel will reportedly be set in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, an area infamous for its association with black magic rituals. Importantly, Shaitaan 2 will be an original story and not a remake of the upcoming Gujarati horror sequel Vash Level 2, putting an end to speculations.
Devgn’s schedule is packed. He will begin filming Drishyam 3 in October 2025, and will then decide between shooting Shaitaan 2 or Rohit Shetty’s long-awaited Golmaal 5, depending on which is ready first. Shaitaan 2 marks the sixth franchise title in Devgn’s upcoming line-up. The others include Son of Sardaar 2 (July 2025), De De Pyaar De 2 (November 2025), Dhamaal 4 (Eid 2026), Drishyam 3 (October 2026), and Golmaal 5 (2027). Alongside these sequels, Devgn will also be seen in Ranger, an original action-adventure film directed by Mission Mangal’s Jagan Shakti.
